Research Interests
My lab investigates the role of growth factors, their receptors and binding proteins in the regulation of cell growth. Present work centers on the role of insulin-like growth factor binding proteins in modulating IGF action on cancer cells. IGFs can be autocrine factors stimulating growth of cells that produce them. These cells also produce binding proteins; we are presently determining whether these binding proteins inhibit or stimulate the mitogenic action of the co-secreted IGFs.
