Dr. Brisson’s research program focuses on genetic and environmental contributions to morphological differences within and between species. She majored in Biology at Kansas State and then studied the evolution and development of abdominal pigmentation in fruit flies as a graduate student at Washington University, St. Louis. She began working on the developmental genetics of pea aphid wing dimorphisms as a postdoc with David Stern at Princeton University. She continued this work with Sergey Nuzhdin at the University of California, Davis, and then at the University of Southern California. She is currently using genetics, genomics, and developmental biology to investigate how aphids produce both winged and unwinged adult morphologies.
